“…While I looked around for my possibilities; I was so hard to please…”

Looking at my schedule for the next 6 weeks or so, it’s pretty messed up.

First, I traded my Wednesday off this week so I could have Saturday off before Easter, so I will be alert in church the next morning (in theory). I also took Easter off as a personal day for family & church activities.

Then I have Wednesdays off for 2 weeks after that, and then my shift changes to 10:30-7 with Wednesdays and Sundays off–except that since I still have 4 weeks of school left on Thursdays, I’ve gotten my employer to let me have Thursdays and Sundays off until school’s done.

So I basically only have 2 weekdays off to work on the house and other things in the next 6 weeks. We really need to get the water heater installed, the car fixed–both tasks that are better done on weekdays than weekends due to hiring other people to perform them. I also need to make sure the gutter gets fixed, the lawn patches I put down last week get watered, the kitchen walls & cabinets & bathroom walls get ready for my wife to paint, and help pack/throw out junk/clean so the house will be ready to show sometime in April. Yep, if we can get the house ready to show by the end of April I will consider myself to have done well. Oh, and we need to meet with a mortgage lender to get pre-approved–another thing that’s more easily done on a weekday.

Granted, some things we can do before commuting, so an 8am appointment isn’t too bad. The main thing really is getting the water heater switched out. I plan on contacting a plumber to get that done next Wednesday.

I did have an appointment to do some work for a former employer next Wednesday, but once I started looking at everything on my plate, I realized there was just no way to add anything else and be fair to myself and to my family. So I cancelled that this morning.
