The Kansas Jayhawk Experience
Cats: Current Events, Sports, Video|Here is a series of videos I took last night surrounding my Final Four activities.
First a bit of a prologue:
We went with some friends to Allen Fieldhouse, the home basketball arena for the Kansas Jayhawk basketball team. The university had opened the arena up to fans for free to watch on the giant screens the final four game against the North Carolina Tarheels (led by former coach Roy Williams, who ditched us). After some of the best basketball I have ever seen by any team, a friend and I headed downtown to Massachusetts Street in Lawrence, where at least 20,000 people (according to the news) were celebrating in the streets. I would guess double that, personally.
And now, without further ado:
Before the game:
Fans singing along to the pep band:
Crowd reacts to a KU three-pointer:
Rock Chalk Chant in Allen Fieldhouse:
Final 10 seconds of the game, and crowd celebrations afterward. It was the same amount of noise as a packed house!
Driving away from campus toward downtown:
The first half of my voyage into the sea of humanity on Massachusetts St:
And the second half:
If this is what Lawrence did when we beat North Carolina, imagine what’ll happen when (not if) we win it all!
GO JAYHAWKS!!!
