My First 5K, and Adoption
Cats: Personal|No, I haven’t had 5,000 visitors to this site yet, nor have I achieved enough net worth to even be into the positive dollar amounts. My wife and I did a 5K run/walk this morning that was sponsored by our church to raise money for Ethiopian orphans. You can check out the results (when they appear) on this page. (PS my wife took a short-cut and beat me by 10 minutes)
We also stayed afterward for the first informational meeting of the Adoption Ministry at our church. We’re looking forward to using them as a resource and perhaps helping out at some point, too. Yes, we are looking to adopt a child, probably domestically right now. Eventually my wife would like to adopt from South America, but this is where we are at the moment. I am just convinced that, given how strongly I feel against abortion, I wanted to give a mother a chance to give up her child for us to adopt, rather than kill him or her. Now we just need to figure out how to make that happen.
